I grew up in a time and place where blacks and whites dressed alike, talked alike, and even shared the same traditional American values, you know: responsibility, accountability, delayed gratification; and the belief that success was earned, that it wasn’t an entitlement. I grew up in an era that fought for equality of opportunity for all citizens, and once it was achieved; blacks and whites were able to put aside past grievances and aim for the American Dream. What happened?
